Jesus: Lest we forget

Next week many people from Australia and New Zealand will stop and remember the men and women who have served (and are serving today), representing our country in various capacities. ANZAC Day is commonly marked annually with a minute in silence, participation in a march, or joining others at a remembrance service and time of prayer. For many this remembering is a once-a-year occurrence.

In 2 Timothy 2:8, the writer Paul encourages us to ‘Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David.’ Here Paul is reminding us to “remember” by considering deeply who Jesus is and what He has done for us. As we continuously do this, keeping Jesus in the forefront of our minds, it challenges us to consider how we orient our lives and reflect Him. His gift of grace and forgiveness helps guide the way re respond to others. Wow, what a challenge in a busy world filled with complexities! It does remind me that remembering Jesus is probably the most important element in living my day well. How will you remember Jesus and live your day well today?

Please join us for our ANZAC Commemorative Service on Monday 24th April at 10.15am in the Stan Baker Hall. All students and staff will be attending as we remember those who have represented the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces in the past and present.

At our Commemorative Service we will also be remembering CCC community members that have served, or are currently serving. If you would like to share details for us to share, please see the flyer below with further information.

Our students are also encouraged to join us for community ANZAC Day services and march down Mary Street on Tuesday 25 April. Please see details below:

• The Dawn Service commences at 5am in Memorial Lane, Reef St. CCC will be assembling outside the old Telstra shop at 4:45am.
• The Commemoration Service, Normanby Hill Remembrance Park, commences at 7am. CCC will be assembling on the cement in front of the memorial at 6:45am. Our CCC leaders will be speaking.
• The Mary Street March, assembles at 9am. CCC Assembly point to be advised on Monday.

Students must wear full formal uniform and a school hat. Senior students must wear a blazer and tie.

If our students have any relatives who have served or are currently serving in the Defence Force, they are invited to join us and march with their children, grandchildren or siblings.

Faith in Action

The P&F Faith in Action team and CCC Support Services have teamed up to help support our CCC Community. Can you help? We are looing for volunteers who would be happy to provide meals (cooked/bought… containers provided); if that’s not your thing perhaps a gift card, coffee voucher or a home made card. Every little bit helps (there is always the option to pass if not convenient, or opt out).
