Devotion & Chapel Focus – Week 5
This week, our focus comes from 1 Samuel 16:7:
“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
In a world that often places value on what we look like, what we achieve, or how we are perceived by others, this verse reminds us that God’s priority is very different. He is not concerned with appearances, popularity, or performance—He cares about our heart: our character, our attitudes, and how we treat others.
At school, this challenges us to think about who we are when no one is watching. Are we kind? Are we honest? Do we include others? Do we choose what is right, even when it’s not easy?
What does this look like in everyday life?
At Home:
- Speaking respectfully to parents and siblings
- Helping out without being asked
- Showing patience and forgiveness
- Choosing gratitude over complaint
In the Playground:
- Including others who may feel left out
- Encouraging teammates rather than criticising
- Being honest and fair in games
- Standing up for others and showing kindness
These are the moments where our “heart” is on display.
We invite all families to support students in attending Chapel this Friday, where we will explore this message further together.
Let’s continue to encourage one another to be people who don’t just look good on the outside—but who have hearts that reflect kindness, integrity, and love.
