This week in our devotions and chapel, students are learning about The Shoes of Peace from Ephesians 6:15. Just like shoes help us move, God calls us to go out into the world ready to bring peace wherever we are.

Our memory verse is: “Live in peace with everyone.” – Romans 12:18

We are encouraging students to understand that peace is more than just being quiet or calm. It is about choosing kindness, patience, and respect, even when situations are challenging. Being respectful means caring for others, including those who may be different from us.

Through the story of the Good Samaritan, students are seeing what it looks like to put peace into action; helping others, showing compassion, and choosing kindness over convenience.

How you can support this at home:

• Talk with your child about what it means to “live in peace” with others.
• Encourage them to share ways they have shown kindness or respect during the day.
• Discuss how they can respond calmly in tricky situations (e.g. disagreements with siblings or friends).
• Look for opportunities as a family to show care—helping a neighbour, including others, or speaking kindly.

As a school, we are continuing to build a culture where students live out our CLEAR value of being Respectful - in their words, actions, and attitudes. Thank you for partnering with us as we encourage our students to be peacemakers in their homes, classrooms, and community.

• soldier attire/costumes (small sizes please)

We would also appreciate any volunteers who would be willing to help with hair and make-up for performances.

Primary Clubs are back in swing for Term 3 and are a great way for students to connect, have fun and explore their interests! From sport and coding to choir, craft, and games, there's something for everyone.

Families from across the Gympie region are invited to Little Kids Day Out 2026, a free community event held on Saturday, 8 August 2026, at the Gympie Pavilion and grounds, with gates open from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Access and parking are available via the Gympie Showgrounds Exhibition Road gate, opposite the Gympie South State School ovals. The event is a fantastic opportunity for parents and carers to connect with local services, schools, early learning centres and clubs that support children and families throughout the region.

This year's theme, "Move It, Move It", encourages children to get active, explore, create and connect through over 50 hands-on experiences. Children can collect stamps on their racetrack activity sheet as they participate in activities around the venue.

Highlights include a fire engine, police bike and ATV, stage performances from local schools and community groups, martial arts demonstrations, roving stilt walkers, Juggling Liam, free face painting, sensory play, crafts, obstacle courses, storytelling, weaving, playdough, baby climbing areas, kite activities, a live bee display, snake bite bandaging demonstrations and much more. The Weeroona Chill Out Zone will also provide a quieter space for neurodiverse children and families, while Gympie South Lions will offer free children's eye screening.

A variety of food and refreshment options will be available and the Little Kids Day Out sausage sizzle fundraiser. Families are encouraged to bring cash, support the fundraiser, and bring a drink bottle, as no soft drinks will be sold.

On arrival children collect their bag and parents can collect an event map and entry form for prize draws featuring vouchers and prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters.

A reminder to families that toys and collectable items (including Ooshies) are best kept at home.

We understand how special these items can be, and how exciting they are to collect and share. However, when brought to school, they can sometimes go missing or become damaged, which can lead to understandable disappointment and upset.

We have also noticed that these items can become a distraction during learning time, especially when they make their way into classrooms in pockets or bags.

To help keep our focus on learning and to avoid any unnecessary heartache, we kindly ask that these popular items stay safely at home.
