Being the Salt – Showing Kindness in Action

In Chapel last week, Mr Walt reflected on Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:13, where He calls His followers the ’salt of the earth’. Just like salt brings flavour and makes a difference to what it touches, Jesus teaches us that our actions can make a difference in the lives of others.

Through the story of the Good Samaritan, students were reminded that kindness often comes down to a simple choice: will we walk past, or will we stop and help? At school, this might look like including someone who is sitting alone, encouraging a classmate who is struggling, standing up for someone being teased, or welcoming someone new.

Mr Walt challenged students to look for one opportunity each day to be ’salt' - one small act of kindness that can make a big difference.

Coming Up in Chapel – Preparing for Easter

Over the next three weeks in Chapel, students will spend time unpacking the Easter story and reflecting on the incredible love shown through Jesus’ sacrifice.

To help prepare hearts and minds for Chapel and the Easter season, families might enjoy singing worship songs together at home that remind us of God’s love and the meaning of the cross.

School photos are scheduled for Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 March.

Queensland School Photography will be on-site to take ID, class photos and special group throughout the two days. A timetable will be sent to you before the day.

Students must wear:

• full formal uniform;
• hair neat and tidy, with school-coloured accessories only;
• correct jewellery;
• light foundation only for girls (girls wearing excess makeup will be required to remove it on the day before photos).

Senior students are also required to wear blazers and ties.

Envelopes and information was sent home with students on 6 March. Please notify us ASAP if your student is not to be photographed for the group photos, as these are used in our Yearbook.

Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures and Designated Areas

We would like to reinforce the importance of all students going to their designated pick-up area each afternoon — even if they are being collected after 3:15 pm. This ensures students are adequately supervised and accounted for at all times.

Having students in their allocated zones also helps us manage traffic flow, reduce congestion, and maintain safe supervision practices across the College.

Please ensure you are collecting your children from the designated pick-up zone allocated to your family. Families are assigned a zone based on the year level of the youngest student. Details are outlined below:

• Blue Pick Up – Families with a Prep student: all students are collected in the Blue (Prep) pick-up zone.
• Orange Pick Up – Families whose youngest student is in Years 1–3: all students are picked up in the Orange zone on the ring road at D Block.
  • Important: For the Year 1–3 Orange pick-up area, please stop at the boom gate upon arrival. The gate will open at 2:55 pm to commence pick-up.
• Green Pick Up – Families whose youngest student is in Years 4–6: all students picked up in the Green zone outside the Early Learning Centre (straight through the roundabout).
• Yellow Pick Up – Families whose youngest student is in Secondary: all students picked up in the Yellow zone at the bottom of the ring road.
