Chapel Focus Term 4 - Who is the Baby in the Manger?
This term in Primary Chapel, we will explore the names of Jesus and discover what they reveal about who He is and why He came. Through the Christmas story, Scripture, devotions and practical activities, students will learn that Jesus is the Word, the Lamb of God, the Light of the World, the Good Shepherd, the Prince of Peace, Emmanuel, the King of Kings, our Saviour and our Hope. Each name helps us understand God's love for us and how we can know, trust and follow Jesus in our everyday lives.
As we journey towards Christmas, students will help build a Bethlehem scene, adding to it each week as we uncover more about the baby in the manger and the incredible story of God's love.
Week 2 - Jesus is the Lamb of God: God Forgives Us
This week in Devotions, we will discover why Jesus is called the Lamb of God and how He came to take away our sin, offering us forgiveness and peace. As we explore John 1:29, students will learn that Jesus gave Himself so we can be forgiven and restored in our relationship with God. We will also consider how forgiveness helps us build peaceful relationships with others.
What could you chat about at home?
- Why do you think Jesus is called the Lamb of God?
- What does it mean to be forgiven, and how does it make us feel?
- Why can it sometimes be hard to say “I'm sorry” or “I forgive you”?
- How can we make peace with someone when we've hurt them or had a disagreement?
This week's challenge: Encourage your child to practise forgiveness by being willing to apologise, forgive others and take steps towards making peace.
Memory Verse: “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” – John 1:29
