A message from our Principal, Mr Waltisbuhl
At our Commencement Service today, Mr Walt asked a question: What’s your favorite mode of transportation? Cars? Bikes? Trains? Well, mine is unique: sailboats. Let me explain why.
Sailboats rely on the wind to move. They don’t have engines like cars or planes. Instead, they use sails to catch the breeze and chart their course. But here’s what’s fascinating: a skilled sailor can even sail against the wind. By adjusting the sails and making precise choices, they harness what’s around them to move forward.
Sailboats also remind me of the importance of teamwork. Whether it’s adjusting the sails, steering the rudder, or navigating the map, every person on board has a role to play. Without working together, the journey gets much harder.
Lastly, sailboats teach us patience and perseverance. You can’t control the wind, but you can control how you respond to it.
So, what does this have to do with starting a new school year? Sailboats remind me of three important lessons:
God gave us wisdom. Like sailors adjusting their sails, we can use the intelligence and creativity God gave us to navigate challenges and seize opportunities.
God gave us each other. We’re part of a community—our crew. By supporting one another and working together, we can achieve incredible things.
God gave us His Spirit. Just as the wind fills a sail and moves a boat forward, God’s Spirit fills our hearts and guides our journey. And the most amazing part? God’s love, through Jesus, is constant. No matter where life takes us, He is our anchor and compass.
As we look ahead to 2025, I’m excited about all the opportunities this year holds—new projects, exciting lessons, sports, music, and chances to explore the world around us. But none of these will matter if they don’t help us grow in our understanding of Jesus, His love, and His purpose for our lives.
So, as we set sail into this year, my prayer is that you’ll discover more about His creation, deepen your relationships with each other, and most importantly, come to know Him as your Savior and guide.
Let’s make 2025 a year of adventure, growth, and faith.
