As we launch into Term 2, we find ourselves in a unique season where Easter and ANZAC Day sit closely together on the calendar. Both are powerful reminders of sacrifice—Easter, of course, pointing us to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our salvation, and ANZAC Day honouring the brave men and women who laid down their lives for our nation.

At Cooloola Christian College, we encourage our students to reflect on these commemorations through class activities, recognising the values of courage, service, love and hope. While ANZAC Day reminds us of the cost of freedom, Easter assures us of eternal life and peace through Christ for all who would accept this precious gift.

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13).

This Thursday we will conduct our own special ANZAC service, to which you are all invited. As a College, we will also take part in various community events on Friday.

Our CCC ANZAC Commemorative Service will be held in Stan Baker Hall on Thursday 24 April 2025. You are invited to join us for this event, please sign in via our Administration Office and be seated by 10.05am.

All students should wear formal uniform on Thursday if possible.

On Friday 25 April 2025, Cooloola Christian College will be participating in the following local community events:

• Gympie Dawn Service at Memorial Park - Students and parents are welcome to attend. Meeting at the corner of Monkland and River Road (the old Telstra Shop) at 5.00am.

• The ANZAC Day March at Mary Street meeting on the corner of Smithfield and Mary Street at 8.45 am. If our students have any relatives who have served or are currently serving in the Defence Force, they are also invited to join us and march with their children, grandchildren or siblings.

• Community Service at Memorial Park commencing at 10.15am.

Our students are asked to join us for the ANZAC Day March if possible. If you are not able to travel to the local Gympie ANZAC Services then we encourage you to dress in formal uniform and represent the College in your local area.

Important information:

• Dress Code - Students must wear their full formal uniform and CCC hat. Yr 11 and 12 students are required to wear their blazers and tie.
• CCC Drum Corp - Students in the CCC Drum Corp are asked to collect their drum, harness, and sticks from the CCC Music storeroom on Thursday afternoon (the day before ANZAC Day). Families are asked to transport these items to and from Mary Street, and back to CCC the following day. CCC Drum Corp are to form up with the rest of the CCC cohort.
• CCC Voices and CCC Young Voices - Students are asked to march with the CCC cohort and then proceed to the stage area to join the RSL Choir and other Gympie Choirs for their performance in Memorial Park at approximately 10.00am. Assembly time and location will be emailed Week 1 of Term 2.

At CCC, we offer a variety of exciting clubs for our students. Whether it’s discovering new interests, making new friends, or simply enjoying lunchtime, there’s something for everyone! Our clubs are thoughtfully designed to support students' growth in areas such as physical development, creativity, social skills, spiritual enrichment, and academic achievement. We can't wait to see our students get up to during Term 2.

Sign up for Instrumental Music, SHINE Dance, and Excellence in Musical Theatre is now open for Term 2, 2025, and only available through Parent Lounge/Orbit App, where up-front payment is required (individual lessons and instrument hire will be invoiced an extra amount after sign up).

Students who are currently enrolled in the program will also need to be enrolled through Parent Lounge, each term.

Instrumental Music:

Strings (Violin, viola, cello) - all year levels

Brass (trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium) - Years 4 - 12

Woodwind (flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone) - Years 4 - 12

Percussion (drum kit, tuned percussion, auxiliary percussion) - all year levels

Guitar and Bass Guitar - all year levels

Piano - all year levels

Vocal (singing lessons) - all year levels

SHINE Dance:

Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical

Excellence in Musical Theatre (singing, dancing, acting).

To secure your child's place in your chosen program, I encourage you to enrol as soon as possible, as places are limited in some areas due to teacher availability and timetabling considerations.

Our Musical Theatre and SHINE Dance students in years 2 - 6 will be participating in a free Queensland Ballet Workshop on Tuesday 20th May, from 1.30pm-2.30pm in the hall. There is an opportunity for a limited number of students in years 2 to 6 to join our dance and musical theatre students in this workshop.

Exciting News! Excellence in Sport Program Sign-Ups Now Open

We are thrilled to announce that sign-ups for all Excellence in Sport programs are now open! Our programs offer students the opportunity to develop their skills, stay active, and have fun in a supportive environment.

The following programs are available:

• Build (Secondary) – Wednesday mornings, 7:00 - 8:00 AM
• Futsal (Prep - Year 2) – Thursday afternoons, 3:00 - 4:00 PM
• Volleyball (Years 4 - 12) – Tuesday afternoons, 3:00 - 4:00 PM
• Mountain Bike Adventure Racing – See Mr. Pritchard for details
• Netball (Years 1 - 3) – Friday mornings, 7:30 - 8:30 AM

Additionally, all competitive futsal team members must accept the Term 2 event and complete payment.
